Navigating Martlesham Creek

Martlesham Creek is a scenic, sheltered tidal arm of the River Deben. Here are essential tips for arriving and departing by water:

Tidal Windows

The creek dries out at low water. Vessels drawing up to 1m can generally access the creek ±2 to 2.5 hours either side of High Water Woodbridge.

Soft Mud Berths

The creek bottom is composed of soft, forgiving Suffolk silt. Bilge keels and twin-keel vessels take the ground safely every tide.

River Deben Approach

Enter from the main Deben channel just downstream of Woodbridge. Stay in the channel center when approaching the boatyard berths.
